A Haverhill man was arrested last week after police learned that he stole a co-worker’s credit card, completed a cash advance transaction at a nearby ATM and returned the credit card.
Jesus Angel Otero, 20, of 37 Nichols St., Haverhill was arrested Oct. 17 and charged with credit card fraud of over $250 and larceny over $250, according to Wellesley Police Lt. Marie Cleary.
Police learned Oct. 13 that the victim, a Wellesley College student, had noticed a been a charge by way of cash advance on her credit card made Oct. 12, according to Cleary. The victim was at work at the time of the incident and was in possession of the card when she noticed the transaction.
Police identified Otero making the transaction on bank surveillance video, Cleary said. The victim showed the person who originally reported the crime to police, who also works at the business. This person was able to identify the suspect, Cleary said.
On Oct. 17, Wellesley Police officers went to the business and arrested Otero, who later admitted to taking the wallet and completing the transaction.
Cleary did not identify the business saying it had nothing to do with the incident.
