Police say they have spent three months investigating the crash, including a systematic reconstruction with trucking experts. Wellesley and State police, as well as the District Attorney's office believed there was probably cause to seek charges against the driver of the 18-wheeler.

A press release from the police department indicates police and the DA had brought forth charges motor vehicle homicide, precautions for the safety of other drivers, and unsafe passing of a bicycle. Over the course of several days of testimony and reports of witnesses, however, the grand jury elected not to indict.

Last August, cyclist Alexander Motsenigos lost his life after being by a passing truck one afternoon this summer, at the intersection of Linden Street and Weston Street. According to an August press release from the WPD, Motsenigos, 41, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A memorial was set up at the site during the week following the crash, and passing cyclists and fellow Pan-Mass Challenge riders stopped to pay their respects to Motsenigos. A Ghost Bike memorial was also briefly put in place at the scene.

A report in  Patch readers voted that intersection one of the most dangerous in Wellesley.

[Correction: a previous version of this story may have implied there were no charges in the case, which is not the case. The jury elected not to indict. 2:22 p.m.]
