Man Provides False Name to Police, Arrested After Running Red Light
The following reports were provided by the Wellesley Police Department. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.
On Monday, July 1 officer Mike Lemanger was patrolling Linden Street when he observed a vehicle stopped in the left turn lane at the intersection of Crest Lane. As the left turn light turned green, the vehicle continued to the right on a red light
After stopping the vehicle Lemanger spoke to the driver who said he did not have his license on him. The man provided a name, date of birth and social security number which did not appear in the driver registration system Lemanger checked in his cruiser.
After speaking with the driver again, the man admitted that he had used a false name and the provided his correct information.

Matthew J. Nelson, 31, of 26 North Main St., Natick was then placed under arrest at 1:35 a.m.
Nelson was charged with failure to obey a traffic signal, providing false identification to a police officer, operating with a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without an interlocking ignition device (the vehicle he was driving was not owned by him) and a warrant out of Lynn District Court for bus fair evasion.

Nelson was held until the morning without bail.
