On Saturday, Aug. 3, Officer Kevin Brooks was conducting traffic enforcement at the Wellesley Fire Department headquarters on Route 9 when he witnessed a vehicle drive by without a front license plate.
Brooks checked the number from the rear license plate and determined that the registration had been revoked due to a lack of insurance.
After stopping the vehicle Brooks spoke to the driver who handed over the registration of the vehicle but said he did not have his license on him.
Dennis Nicholas Walch, 31, of 1 Sherwood St., Dedham, was placed under arrest. While taking an inventory of the vehicle a second officer found two small baggies with what was determined to be cocaine in them.
Walch denied that the drugs belonged to him.
While being booked at the station Walch admitted that he had provided a false name to the officer that stopped him.
Walch was charged with possession of a class B substance, operating with a suspended license, providing a false name to police and a license plate violation.
