Juveniles Arrested With Marijuana at Sprague School

The following reports were provided by the Wellesley Police Department. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

On Tuesday, July 16, Officer Nate Derby was checking the Sprague School around 8 p.m. when he observed several youths acting suspiciously near an SUV behind the school.

Derby observed that the juveniles appeared panicked and acted suspiciously while putting a backpack into the back of the vehicle.

Each of the 16-year-olds was spoken to separately and one of them admitted to having a small amount of marijuana on his person. After Derby inspected the vehicle through the windows and observed that the backpack was not closed and appeared to contain marijuana.

Two of the youths reportedly said the backpack belonged to the third child.

All three juveniles were arrested after the contents of the backpack were checked and 7.5 ounces of marijuana was found with baggies and a scale. Eight beers were also found in the backpack.

Charges included possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drugs in a school zone, trespassing on school property after dark and minor in possession of alcohol.
