Massive Water Main Break Causes Traffic Nightmare

There were major traffic delays along Route 9 Wednesday morning following a massive water main break in Newton.

The break was reported at about 9:30 a.m. on Needham Street in the Newton Highlands. The Fire Department said part of the street was "buckling."

There were major traffic delays in the area as detours were set up. Needham Street is a main thoroughfare near Route 9.

Police said businesses on the street were closed.
