Alleged Dunkin' Donuts Burglars Arrested

The Wallace brothers, suspected in connection with Dunkin' Donuts burglaries around the state - including Wellesley, were arrested early this morning.

These brothers kept the crime all in the family. arrested Peter J. Wallace of Dorchester and Wayne M. Wallace of Quincy early Sunday morning after being caught breaking into the Neponset Street Dunkin' Donuts.

The pair, who are suspected in a rash of Dunkin' Donuts burglaries around the Bay State including a possible Wellesley break-in, allegedly used a crow bar to pry open the drive through window, told Patch Monday.

The Wallaces, who were wearing homemade masks during the break-in, sped off when Canton Police arrived on scene after the burglar alarm went off at 12:18 a.m. Sunday, Berkowitz said. The Dunkin' shop was closed at the time of the robbery, he said.

Canton Police Officers Chuck Rae, Brian Ronayne, Steve Saraf and Bob Schnieders made the arrests after chasing the suspects onto I-95, and pulling them over on 93, the police chief said.

The pair got away with a "small amount of money," Berkowitz said. They are suspected in the August robbery of the same Dunkin' Donuts at 600 Neponset St., he said. In that case, the robbers also used a crow bar to pry open the drive-through window, he noted.

The Wallaces, who are set to be arraigned today in Stoughton District Court, are suspected in 30 Dunkin' Donuts robberies across the state, including ones in Braintree, Stoughton, Milton, Boston, Wellesley and Randolph, Chief Berkowitz said.

In Septmeber, security video captured three men breaking into a Route 9 Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru window. The men made off with a safe from the store's office. are in the process of determing whether the Wallaces are connected to the robbery, according to Lt. Marie Cleary.

Canton Police had been keeping an increased eye on Dunkin' Donuts shops in town since the August robbery, according to the chief. The Neponset shop, with close proximity to the highway, was especially on the CPD watch, he said.

The arrests were "an excellent piece of police work and I'm really proud of all four officers," Berkowitz said.

Currently, Canton Police are working with several other towns on this case, the chief said.

Peter J. Wallace, 37, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with breaking and entering into a building at nighttime, a felony; larceny over $250; possessing a burglarious instrument; and malicious destruction of property over $250.

Wayne M. Wallace, 33, of Quincy was arrested and charged with breaking and entering at nighttime, a felony; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license; failing to stop for police; larceny over $250; possession of a burglarious instrument; malicious destruction of property over $250; and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Both have extensive records, including breaking and entering, drug charges and assaults, according to Berkowitz.

A third man, believed to have been working with the two, is still at large, according to officials.
