Obituary: Jean M. (Fournier) Digan, Teacher at Saint Paul's School in Wellesley

Jean M. (Fournier) Digan, 82, of Needham, passed away Dec. 24, 2013 at the Stanley R. Tippett House in Needham. 

She was wife for 52 years to the late Thomas E. Digan.

Mrs. Digan was a graduate of Cathedral High School Class of 1949 and Our Lady of the Elms College Class of 1953. She taught elementary school in Springfield, Hyde Park, New York and locally at Saint Joseph School in Needham and Saint Paul's School in Wellesley. A longtime active parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Needham, Jean was a former Eucharistic Minister and member of the choir. 

She was an avid reader and loved the beach. Mrs. Digan was a New England sports fan. 

She is survived by her children Thomas B. Digan of Evanston, Ill., Mary G. Digan of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jeananne G.Digan of Wilmette, Ill., Christopher E. Digan of Wrentham, Sean P. Digan of Fort Wayne, Ind., Elizabeth M. Digan of Novato, Calif., Eileen M. Digan of Tivoli, N.Y. and David M. Digan of North Attleboro; her 14 grandchildren; her great-grandson; and her many nieces and nephews. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph Church, 1360 Highland Ave. Needham Saturday, Dec. 28 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave. Needham Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment at St. Michael's Cemetery in Springfield. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's name may be made to Elms College c/o Institutional Advancement, Elms College, 291 Springfield St. Chicopee, MA 01013-2839 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
