Obituary: Elaine May Angelone, Manager at Newton Wellesley Hospital

Elaine May Angelone, 71, died Nov. 23, 2013 at South County Hospital Wakefield, Rhode Island after a brief illness.

Elaine May Angelone was born in Providence, R.I. May 16, 1942, the second child of Alfred C. and Adelina L. Angelone (Antonelli). 

Elaine was a pre-eminent attorney in Boston with a reputation as a compassionate and dedicated advocate of justice and due process to serve the best interests of her clients with the utmost integrity. She enjoyed the respect of the judges before whom she so passionately argued her cases.

Elaine graduated from the University Of Rhode Island School Of Nursing and from Boston College masters degree in nursing. She began her nursing career at Boston City Hospital and was a teaching instructor at Boston City and Newton Wellesley. Her career advanced into management positions at Hebrew Rehabilitation Center and Newton Wellesley Hospital. While at Newton Wellesley, she decided to change careers and graduated from Suffolk University Law School.

Elaine commenced her legal career immediately upon passing the bar exams and worked briefly for a small Boston law firm before going out on her own based upon her many contacts in the healthcare community. Her practice only served as defendent counsel for healthcare institutions and added to the practice family court litigation at the request of agencies requiring such representation and leading to appointments by members of the judiciary before whom she appeared and impressed.

Elaine was a member of the Massachusetts bar association and had done pro bono work for worthy causes and was a member of the City of Cambridge Human Rights Commission.

Elaine is survived by her brothers and their wives, Alfred C. Angelone and Sheila, of Saunderstown, R.I. and Tampa, Fla., Thomas C. Angelone Esq. and Diane of East Greenwich, R.I.; her nephews and niece A. Douglas Angelone, Matthew Angelone, T. Christopher Angelone and Lauren Pelletier; her friends Terry Chopoorian, Katie Ryan, Debbie and Tom Lee, Martha Jamgochian, David and Gerri Scoll, Demetra Ouellette; and her law associates Samuel Parkman, John Devine and Sheila Kelly. 

Her funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 2 at 9 a.m. from the Fagan-Quinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Road, North Kingstown, R.I. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard Church, 415 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Visiting hours are Sunday, Dec. 1, 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston R.I.
