MassBay To Get $300K Via State Grant

The grant is part of $4 million that will go to Massachusetts community colleges.

 

Gov. Deval Patrick was in Wellesley today to unveil a new grant that will award the local community college with funds to “enhance the first year experience for students.”

MassBay Community College will get $300,000 via the Performance Incentive Fund, according to a statement from Patrick's office Tuesday. Patrick was on campus to introduce the initiative this afternoon.

"A stronger community college system is good for students, employers and the whole Commonwealth," Patrick said in the statement. "These additional resources will further accelerate this transformation, and help get people to work.”

Grants from the fund will go toward 10 community colleges, five state universities and three University of Massachusetts campuses; $4 million of the $5 million total fund allocation will go to community colleges, according to the statement.
