MassBay Student Learns From Experience in Prison

Last year, Rahshjeem Benson was released from prison for drug trafficking. He now takes classes at MassBay and looks forward to educating others.

Released from prison last year, Rahshjeem Benson, 29, has refocused his life around educating others.

Benson was released from prison after a four-year drug trafficking sentence last year, according to WBUR.org. He now takes classes at in Wellesley and he told the publication he was ready to impart wisdom to youth heading down a similar path.

“I want to work with the bad kids,” he told WBUR. “I want to work with the kids that’s like, being suspended and talking back to their mothers, and disrespectful to their household, and just in the streets, hard.”
