Center Stages Ultimate Prop from Diamond’s Magic Shop on North Shore

The Wellesley

Community Center
will supply another edition of Gil Stubbs’ World of Magic on March 5, 2014.  This month’s special guest is

Eddie Gardner, who is referred to amongst his peers as a ‘magician’s magician’.  Eddie says, “My objective is to entertain and

make people laugh.  Fun should be my

middle name”.   For the last

38 years, Eddie has done just that, while performing for conventions, trade

shows, restaurants, children's parties, schools, libraries, Boy Scouts, Girl

Scouts and meetings of corporations.  He

has also performed for families and parties of the Red Sox, Bruins and

Celtics! Sometimes in the professional franchise world, it takes a little

magic to get things done.  And, he has

advised and taught Shriner Clowns to cover all the bases.

So that leads us to a curious question.  Have you ever wondered where all of the gear

comes from when magicians perform?  It

cannot be easily sourced, that’s for sure, but like every discipline there is

always a category of suppliers who specialize in products and services for a

given line of work.   Perhaps you have wondered where

dentists get their supplies from?  Oh, you haven’t?  We can all agree that it does not ‘magically’

appear out of thin air.  The same holds

true with magic accoutrement.   Not only

does Eddie own and manage the largest magic shop in New England, called

Diamond’s Magic in Peabody, but he has dedicated his career to the advancement

of the art.   This has been accomplished

through professional organizations, where he is an active officer of a SAM

(Society of American Magicians) Chapter North of Boston, where he has received

multiple national awards from SAM, but also is an advisor to the local assembly

of The Society of Young Magicians.
