Community Center Honors Veteran’s Fund Raiser: American Heroes Hockey Challenge
We recently got a
call from a non-profit organization here at the office and the person in charge
of setting up the special meeting is Chris Mayer, an attorney by education, who
happens to be a local realtor and hockey fan.
(She used to live in Minnesota).
While discussing the event here in Henderson Hall for an operations meeting on Wednesday evening,
February 19 for a special fund raiser for American HeroesHockey Challenge,
her magic words were ‘wounded warriors’. This resonated deeply with us and from this
point on, she had our undivided attention.
To give
the reader a little background, a group of private citizen volunteers is
bringing the USA Warriors Ice Hockey Program’s two teams – standing and sled to
Boston in April. Events featuring the teams will be held over three days, with
the marquee game – the USA Warriors standing team playing Massachusetts area
Olympians – set for April 9. Charlie Bobbish, one of the volunteers, will
provide an overview of the events at the press conference scheduled for
February 18 at 10:00AM at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell. For more information on the big game
scheduled for April 9, 2014. The net
proceeds of the event will be shared by the USA Warriors, One Fund Boston and
the Travis Roy Foundation.
