Thursday Nigth at the Hort: The Truth About Insects in Your Garden
Dr. John Stoffolano Professor of Entemology Stockbridge School of Agriculture
Few gardeners welcome or really understand the insects that inhabit or, make a brief stop in their garden. At the same time, few gardeners think about the intricate behavior and physiology of the insect and, how this impacts what they do in your garden. Dr. Stoffolano will take you on a special voyage about your own garden and, some of the most spectacular gardens in the world. Specific examples with excellent visuals will be highlighted using power point projection.
Three years ago Dr. Stoffolano and his wife Susan travelled around the world visiting 7 different countries, giving lectures, doing research, and visiting some spectacular gardens. They live in an 1810 New England Home (Brushy Mtn. Farm) in Leverett, Mass.,where they maintain 5 acres of extensive flower gardens, fruit trees, vegetable garden and pigs/chickens/pigeons. Whenever they visit a new area or country, one of the first things they do is to look up what interesting gardens or botanical gardens they can visit and consequently have visited some of the best in the world.
