Marcin Szelest, Organ

Marcin Szelest's organ recital will focus on High Renaissance and early Baroque music from Germany, Italy and Poland. This fascinating web of mutual influences resulted in a diversified and interesting repertoire that is largely unknown to general public today.

Dr. Szelest is Head of the Early Music Department at the Academy of Music in Krakow, where he teaches organ, basso continuo, chamber music, early music performance practice, and organ literature. He is also organist of the restored 1704 organ at the Church of the Holy Cross in Krakow, and director of the Krakow-based early music ensemble Harmonia Sacra. As a Fulbright scholar at The Boston Conservatory, he worked closely with James David Christie, and he has performed in Europe and the U.S. as a soloist, and with numerous choirs, orchestras and period-instrument ensembles.
