Gary Hylander to discuss 'The Assault' at Waterstone

Waterstone at Wellesley will welcome Stonehill College Professor Gary Hylander to discuss a presentation he entitles “The Assault” on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. In this presentation, Hylander focuses on a defining event leading up to the U.S. Civil War: an assault on U.S. Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts by a South Carolina Congressman Preston Brooks after Sumner delivered a fiery anti-slavery speech.  This talk is free and open to the public.
