The Wellesley High School Performing Arts
Department presents the Moving Company in “Footnotes” a collaborative
performance bringing together dancers from local schools and professional dance
companies in a sharing and informative setting. Student and faculty choreographies will be showcased. A variety of dance styles will be
featured including a Modern work accompanied live by the WHS Symphonia under
the direction of Katherine Greene. The Wellesley middle school group, Junior
Moving Company directed by Lauren Schneider, will also return for their 12th season
to perform, and the WMS Mighty Steppers will join the program for their fifth
year. In addition, students from
Dana Hall School (director Devon Fitchett), Cambridge School of Weston (director
Nailah Bellinger) and Charles River Ballet Academy
(director Emily Hrones Umland) will also be performing.
Members of the Wellesley High School Moving
Company will be performing dance pieces choreographed by company director,
Janet Sozio. The focus of Moving
Company is to expose both the dancers and audience to a variety of dance. Styles of dance included in this year’s
performance are Jazz/Funk, Modern, Ballet and Hip Hop. Student works include pieces choreographed
by seniors Katie Corscadden and Alana Rosenbloom, junior Neda Shabestari, and
