Jubinville To Be Sworn In As Governor’s Councillor

(Boston) Robert L. Jubinville, a Milton attorney, will be sworn in Thursday, Jan. 3 as the District 2 Governor’s Councillor at the State House at noon.

Jubinville is intent bringing his professionalism and experience as an attorney of 33 years and former Massachusetts State Police Trooper/Detective to the office responsible for deciding whether to confirm the governor’s judicial nominations.

“I am looking forward to serving the people of Massachusetts over the next two years on the Governor's Council,” Jubinville said. “As a member of the Council, I pledge to work to return fairness and common sense to the judicial nominating process. Judges play a crucial role in our Commonwealth and in our lives. The process for approving these men and women must be second to none.

Jubinville ran for the same seat and lost in the previous two elections of 2010 and 2008. In January, the District 2 incumbent of 18 years passed away and the seat remained vacant until the election. In September, Jubinville won the primary over Bart Timilty, Brian Clinton and Patrick McCabe. He was then elected to the two-year term over Republican Earl Sholley in November.

“The Governor’s Council has a very noble mission: to elect good people who are just,” said Jubinville. “We are to protect the court system and make sure that the best qualified and experienced judges are put into place who are going to treat the citizens fairly.”
