The Needham Art Association will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8 at the Needham Library. Artist, Susan Rustad Smith will be there to give a watercolor painting demonstration On Masa paper. She is a member of the Watercolor Connection, the New England Watercolor Society and is an artist member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. Her paintings have been exhibited in the Roddy Competition in Concord, the Fountain Street Fine Arts Gallery, and the Danforth Museum of Art in Framingham and in many other venues.
Susan has been painting watercolors for over 25 years. She has a BS from the university of Minnesota and has studied painting with numerous artists in the Boston area as well as with Cheng Khee Chee in Minnesota. She enjoys photography and uses it to help design her watercolor paintings. She also paints on silk.
She is a member of a florist family and grew up surrounded by color, texture, light, line and shape. Nature provides an unending source of inspiration and the beginning foundations for most of her work. She loves the creative process of combining paint and water to express the subject matter and her emotions.

The meeting and art demo will take place in the Community Room in the Needham Public Library at 1139 Highland Avenue. It is wheelchair accessible. The event is free and the public is invited to attend. The Needham Art Association enriches Needham by exhibiting over 500 paintings in town locations every year. It welcomes new members.
