Kelley Wins School Committee Race

Preliminary election results in from Town Clerk's office.

Matthew Kelley, the only challenger in the School Committee race against two incumbents, topped the School Committee ticket Tuesday night.

Preliminary results from the Wellesley Town Clerk’s office show Kelley received 1,672 votes. Wendy Withington Paul (incumbent) received 1,571. Diane Campbell (incumbent) placed third with only 1,320 votes.

Kelley and Paul will serve three-year terms.

The School Committee race was the only contested race in Tuesday’s election.

The single ballot question — authorizing six retail sale licenses for wine and malt beverages — won solidly with 2,248 votes and only 336 no votes (335 blanks).

According to the Town Clerk Kathleen Nagle, write-ins and hand-count ballots have not been tabulated.
