Transportation Bond Bill Awards Over $4m to Wellesley for Rte. 9 Drainage Improvements

The $1.39 billion bill will finance improvements to the commonwealth's transportation system including drainage issues on Route 9.

The state Senate passed a bill yesterday which will institute improvements to the drainage system along Route 9 in Wellesley.

The office of Sen. Richard R. Ross, R-Wrentham, announced in an email July 24 the passage of the transportation bond bill, which focuses heavily on funding various local transportation projects across the state. Through the bill, Wellesley will be awarded over $4 million for the improvements, which will take place along Route 9 adjacent to Boulder Brook and , according to the e-mailed statement.

“This funding is essential for cities and towns across the Commonwealth to implement the improvements and repairs needed to provide residents with a safe and reliable infrastructure,” Ross said in the statement. “Providing an effective transportation system for residents of the Commonwealth is essential and we as a legislature should do all we can to ensure its functionality.”
