Hills Branch Library Restoration to Be Discussed Tonight

The branch library’s chimney has been undergoing repairs for the last several months.

The chimney atop the may no longer be crumbling, and has instead been wrapped in construction materials for several months.

The Historical Commission will meet tonight to discuss the “Wellesley Hills branch library restoration,” which is likely indicative of a discussion on the chimney.

had been in question recently, after a 2006 Town Meeting vote shuttered the branch libraries. In 2008, funds were raised privately and the branches were re-opened, but language of the vote left out whether the town or another faction would be responsible for long term maintenance.

The Historical Commission will meet at 7:30 tonight in the Arnold Room at the main library branch. The commission will take up the discussion at about 7:50.

I walk by the library every day and it is quite busy at times. It is also a beautiful addition to the community and should be maintained by the town. It isn't like it is tucked back where no one can see it.

I agree. It's a beautiful historical town building and should be maintained by the Town.
