Federal Court Dismisses Lawsuit Filed by Man Seeking Admission to Wellesley College

Richard J. Spain filed the suit last year after requesting admissions information, he received an e-mail from the admission office informing him the school is an all-women's college.

No, still does not admit men, and now a federal court agrees that that’s the school’s prerogative.

Richard J. Spain of New York filed the suit after he e-mailed the admissions office inquiring about admissions information, according to the Boston Business Journal. The office replied by saying, “"...This letter is to inform you that Wellesley College is an all-women's college," according to BBJ.

Spain sought the right to apply plus $2.5 million in damages. A judge dismissed the case Aug. 27.
