Brown-Warren: Do You Believe There's a War on Women?

Trailing in the latest polls, Elizabeth Warren charged Scott Brown is part of a Republican war on women. Do you agree, or is this just a stunt?

Senator Scott Brown has opened up a lead over challenger Elizabeth Warren in a new poll released Tuesday. Public Policy Polling has Brown over Warren by five points.

On the stump, however, Warren's on the offensive, saying Brown and the Republican party are waging a war on women. She's pointed to comments by Missouri Senate hopeful Todd Akin as the latest evidence of that war. Akin has been roundly condemned by liberals and conservatives alike for his statement that it's rare for women to become pregnant after a "legitimate rape." Akin has apologized and attempted to clarify his statement, saying he meant "forcible rape."

Brown has publicly called on Akin to drop out of the race, and asked that the Republican partysoften its stance on abortion

What do you think? Is Warren right about Republicans trying to claw back women's rights? Did Brown call for Akin's withdrawal to blunt these attacks? Or are Warren's claims about a war on women just the smoke and mirrors of a losing campaign? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Like most liberals Warren is filled with anger, republicans have no war on women. The liberals like Warren have done one hell of job on the american family since the 1960`s, look at the divorce rate, unwed mother`s etc, THERE WAR IS ON OUR WHOLE SOCIETY.There is no moral compass or stability left it`s all gone. They love to put COEXISIT stickers on there car`s, nothing could be further from the truth in there action`s and mind`s.

Absolutely, there is a war on women! The patriarchal GOP is anti Lily Ledbetter Act, anti-choice, anti-contraception... Howard Kosrofian, it's the red states that get divorced & have the highest teen & unwed birth rates! We "liberals" stay married! Just because Elizabeth Warren is for the Middle Class & from preventing the US from becoming an oligarchy does not mean she's "filled with anger." Sheesh.

THE RED STATES, TRY THE BIG URBAN CITIES, ARE YOU KIDDING, 85% OF BLACK KIDS ARE BORN OUT OF WED LOCK, THERE IN THE BLUEIEST AREA`S IN THE COUNTRY, AND I MIGHT ADD THE BLUE STATES, HAVE MORE FISCAL PROBLEMS THAN ANY.TAXES, TAXES, TAXES THAT`S WHAT IS KILLING THE MIDDLE CLASS BE IT PROPERTY, OR INCOME, HER SOLUTION FOR THIS ECONOMY MORE PUBLIC SECTOR WORKERS PAID BY WHAT? TAXES. MAJOR CITIES ARE BUST NOW, NEVER MIND EXPANDING THERE PAYROLL.

Howard Kosrofian's logic is flawed. Liberal states like MA have the lowest teen birth rates AND the lowest divorce rates. There's obviously nothing wrong with our moral compass!

To respond to the article, I have to say that the Republican rhetoric on rape *does* feel like an attack on women. With terms like "legitimate rape," how can it not?
Howard Kosrofian August 23, 2012 at 10:00 PM
I beg to differ, it`s the BLUE STATES with there urban area`s that are loaded down with unwed mother`s try Boston, chicago, LA, Detroit, on and on.ALSO IT`S THE BLUE STATES THAT ARE IN THE MOST FISCAL TROUBLE,CALIFORNIA IS A MESS, ILLINOIS, DOWN THE DRAIN. MOST EXPENSIVE PLACE`S TO LIVE ARE VERY BLUE BECAUSE OF ALL THIS WASTE ON THESE PROGRAMS, IT`S SIMPLE THOUGH WHEN YOU DO YOUR TAXES, JUST CHECK THE BOX AND PAY MORE, IF YOU THINK YOUR MONEY IS BEING SPENT WELL.

One Republican made the ridiculous remark. Should we attach Biden's ridiculous comments to all Democrats? I think not.
