Babson Partners with Town’s Renewable Energy Program

The college is the first major institution to voluntarily sign up to be a part of the town-implement program.

Wellesley, an actively green town, just got a little greener.

joined up with , according to a school announcement Monday. Through the initiative, Babson aims to raise its STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System) score and offer users the opportunity to receive their electricity usage from Spruce Mountain Wind Farm in Maine.

“Babson College is committed to sustainability on many levels and this was an important step in our goal of further reducing the College’s carbon footprint,” said Shelley Kaplan, Associate Vice President, Facilities at Babson.

Wellesley’s Renewable Energy Program is tasked to reduce the town’s emissions 10 percent by 2013.
