A Little Bit of Paradise at Lux Nails & Spa

The Thursday Patch Passport shows you a Little Bit of Paradise. This is a local place where you can feel like you are a million miles away from the daily stress of life, without having to go far from home. Come along and relax...

Walk into Wellesley's newest nail salon in Wellesley Square and you'll get pleasant and speedy service. Inside Lux Nails & Spa the busy world just outside seems to disappear. Open seven days a week, Lux offers the usual pedicures and manicures and waxing, but throws in extras, like massages during your nail procedure and luxurious massage chairs during your foot treatment.

Owner Khiem Nguyen is busy getting ready to open another salon in nearby Needham Center. Its doors will be open by early winter.

At Lux, manicures are done at a wrap-around bar, making it easy for a customer to enjoy a complimentary water, coffee or tea, and then use the nail dryers that are tucked conveniently underneath the nails bar. It's a great spot to visit with a pal, because you can enjoy each other's company sitting next to each other for manis and pedis. During manicures, specialists provide a soothing back and neck massage. Besides standard manicures offered at Lux, services include  "IBD liquid gels"  which create a shiny, transparent, natural looking nail without the odor or airborne dust of a traditional acrylic gel manicure. Working with ultraviolet light, heat, and a fan in the nail dryers, a customer can expect a longer-lasting result. Gel manicures are $30 at Lux.

You'll receive a relaxing pedicure at Lux by enjoying one of the luxurious leather massage chairs, while your specialist works. "Pedis" also include massage and warm soothing foot baths. Lux pedicures are $30. A special offer for new clients includes a rate of $25 for your first visit to the salon. A great feature of a lux mani or pedi: Khiem's a special exfoliating lotion. Made on the premises, it is comprised of oils and sugars making hands and feet oh-so-smooth in the final results. If you need some pampering this summer, check out Lux Nails and Spa at 555 Washington Street in Wellesley Square. They'll even assist with "mani/pedi" and spa birthday parties for youngsters.
