5 Things You Need to Know: Jan 31

Summer camps, author visits and printmaking make up the day's Five Things.

1. Could be some thunder before 9 a.m., the National Weather Service tells us there is a 90 percent chance of showers--with even the chance of a thunderstorm in the morning. Temperatures should be between 59ºF and 24ºF, but are expected to drop to 51ºF by about 5 p.m. The evening should be only partly cloudy.

2. If you have a hot stock tip, then bring it to the Knights of Columbus hall in Needham for their Senior Men's Investment Group Meeting. It starts off at 9:30 a.m., and welcome seniors interested in investing. Curious, but want some more details? Call 781-449-3924

3. Thinking about sending your kids to camp this summer, but need some more information? You're in luck: Parent Talk’s First Annual Summer Camp Information Fair is tonight! Starts at 7 p.m. at the Newman Elementary School.

4. Newton's New Art Center is hosting a Night Out @ New Art. The theme: Printmaking 101. The $30 course is aimed at beginners and experienced printers alike, and starts at 7 p.m. You'll walk away with a monotype print of your own.

5. If you're curious about the IMF and global economic crises, then Wellesley Free Library has an Author Visit for you: Joseph P. Joyce, author of "The IMF and Global Financial Crises: Phoenix Rising?" Joyce is a Professor of Econonics at Wellesley College, and Faculty Director of the Madeline Korbel Institute. He is speaking at the library at 7 p.m.
