5 Things You Need to Know: Feb. 28

The last day of a short month proves to be brainy: documentaries and lectures, ranging from stress to immigration, to lawyers, and to water.

1. There's about a 60 (day) to 70 (evening) percent chance of rain and snow during the day, although the National Weather Service expects little, if any, accumulation. Otherwise, it should be cloudy with a high of 49ºF and a low of 33ºF.

2. The Needham-Newton Chamber of Commerce Lawyer's Council Presents a course on Mediation: Effective Tools to resolve legal disputes. If you want to know how a mediator could help you out, stop by 160 Gould St, Needham at 8 a.m. today. Presentation is $10 for members, $15 for non-members.

3. At your wits end, but want to find ways to relax? Fortunately, MassBay Community College is presenting a Film & Reading on Practical Ways to Deal with Everyday Stress It's free and starts at 6 p.m. Just knowing that, I feel better already.

4. The Earth is 70 percent water, but how much of that is drinkable? Well, if you gathered the freshwater available to people, the USGS estimates that would create a 35-mile sphere. How we manage those resources is the topic of Last Call at the Oasis, which the Wellesley Free Library hosts at a Film Screening and Discussion at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

5. Tonight, Alexandra Pineros-Shields, Brandeis University professor leads a forum which asks Immigration: How Do We Fix a Broken System? Want to learn more? The Needham Free Public Library at 7:30 p.m. is the place to be.
