An artistic type of day: painting, art matters and Shakespeare.

3. For those unfamiliar with wax as a painting too, local artist Amalia Tagaris is running Encaustic Painting Workshops at her studio in Gorse Mill Studios. Starting at 10 a.m., for $75, you can learn more about the style with a beginner class or some time to explore the painting.

4. They may not be able to tell you why the Mona Lisa smiles, but Waterstone at Wellesley is hosting an Art Matters discussion on Leonardo da Vinci's works. Starts at 2:30 p.m. today, and is a free discussion, but they ask that you RSVP. For more information or to say you're going, call 781-235-1614. 

5. Shakespeare and Company presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream, at Wellesley College tonight, at the Diana Chapman Walsh Alumnae Hall. The free show starts at 7 p.m. Their fast-paced, animated performance of the classic comedy should show off the Company's mission of capturing the animated performances of Shakespeare's day.
