A WEEK TO HEAR MUSIC – October 20-26!

Looking for something to do?  The Wellesley College Concert Series has a full and wildly diverse week of concerts planned, just for you!

First, on SUNDAY OCTOBER 20, Charles Fisk’s annual solo piano performance features two Sonatas in A major by Schubert, and Schumann’s “Kreisleriana.”

Then, on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 23rd, at 12:30PM, Intermezzo Opera previews a new chamber opera on Anne Hutchinson, featuring WC faculty Marion Dry, exploring Anne Hutchinson’s trial of 1635 in colonial America. This lunchtime event includes excerpts never yet seen, and discussion with the composer, librettists, the stage director, musical director, and principal artists.

Just two days later, on FRIDAY OCTOBER 25 at 8PM, come to the magnificent Houghton Chapel, to hear visiting Polish organist, Marcin Szelest play High Renaissance and early Baroque music from Germany, Italy and Poland, on the historic mean-tone Fisk Organ.

And, for something completely different…  on SATURDAY OCTOBER 26 at 8PM, get your groove on while enjoying a cool concert put on by the Jazz and World Music faculty! “Groove Translation” will uplift your evening with rhythm – from the exuberance of New Orleans’ second-line, the propulsion of swing, to Afro-Cuban clave and Haitian Ibo, the heartbeat of all improvisational music will top off your week!
