Why Your Home isn’t Showing Well

If you’re selling your home in the Natick real estate market, you know how important open houses are. An open house gives your agent a chance to show off all your home’s features and potential buyers the opportunity to ask questions and envision themselves living in your home, encouraging them to put an offer on it.

However, to get the most out of open houses, you have to take advantage of the opportunity to show your home in its best light. If you recognize any of these signs, your open houses may not be as successful as they could be.

Clutter and Damages are Taking Over

Cluttered homes aren’t attractive to buyers. If your home is cluttered and in bad repair, buyers will be turned off and even be so distracted that they don’t value the best features your home has to offer.

Start by doing a deep clean and organizing all the spaces in your home, from the rooms down to the closets and cupboards. Buyers will likely open closets and look closely at your garage, so even these spaces need to look their best. Then, make repairs to things like flooring, doors, appliances and other elements.

You Don’t Leverage Features

An open house gives you a chance to leverage special features in your home to show off what makes it different and to capture buyers’ attention. By not taking advantage of things like extra storage space, spare bedrooms, outdoor features and new appliances, you are missing out on opportunities to attract offers.

When you work with an agent, she can help you decide which features to highlight and then make sure to direct buyers’ attention to them as they tour your home.

There isn’t Room for Personalization

As people tour your home, you want them to be able to envision living there and picture what it would look like as their home. If you have very personalized décor and unique themes throughout your home, you’re making it hard for people to do this.

Go with neutral colors, simple decorations and open furniture arrangements that allow people to picture what your home would look like with their own furniture and belongings in it. This simple tip can help you get more offers.

Your Agent isn’t Hosting

Your real estate agent is very experienced in showing homes, attracting offers and closing sales, so let him do his job by letting him host your open houses. This also means less work for you and makes the atmosphere more comfortable so buyers will feel free to look closely at your home and ask lots of questions.

Holding open houses is an important part of selling your home, so take advantage of these opportunities to show off it off. You can find more tips about open houses on the Christine Norcross & Partners website.
