6 Questions to Help you Decide if You’ve Found your Dream Home

As you are house hunting, how do you know when you’ve found the perfect home? There are lots of options on the market right now so you’ll be able to find a home with all the features your family needs, but with all those options comes some decision-making.

While everyone has a different idea of what a dream home is and everyone is looking for something different, you can ask yourself these six questions to determine if that home you’ve fallen in love with is right for you.

Will the Location Work for my Family?

One of the very first things you should consider when you look at a home is its location. Your Natick real estate agent will tell you all about the area and be able to answer any questions so you can decide if it’s right for you. You should also consider things like how long it will take you to get to work, how close it is to schools and whether it is close to public transportation.

Does it Have Most of the Features on my “Need” List?

To avoid getting distracted by all the options you’ll have while you are house hunting, make a list of all the features you need in a new home before you even start looking. This will make it easy for you to eliminate homes that won’t work for you and identify houses that will meet your needs.

Are there Fun Extras that make it stand out?

Your top priority is finding a home that has the features you need, but chances are that you will find a home that has some special features that make it stand out. While you’re house hunting, take advantage of the opportunity to find a home that has something special about it. Don’t let these extras take priority over your needs, but be open to features you haven’t considered before.

Is the Price Right for my Situation?

Get pre-approved for a loan before you start looking for that perfect house. Decide what kind of monthly payments you can afford and consider the cost of insurance and utilities. When you know what you can afford, finding that perfect home will be much easier.

Does it Require Extra Work?

Decide if you are willing to put some work into a house to make it your ideal home. In some cases, a house will need a few updates, new appliances or some minor changes to make it exactly the way you want it. If you’re willing to do this, keep that in mind as you look at houses. However, if you want a home that is move-in ready, look for one that already has what you need so you won’t have to make many changes.

Will the Timing work for me?

Find out if the home will be ready for you to move in when you need it. This is especially important if you are selling your current home. Some sellers are willing to negotiate on the move-in date and your real estate agent can help you work with the seller to come to terms you both agree on.
