LINX's Olynyk Basketball and Coerver Soccer Clinics Attracted Young Athletes from Wellesley to Cape Cod

LINX’s Olynyk Basketball and Coerver Soccer Clinics Attracted Young Athletes From Wellesley to Cape Cod

WELLESLEY, MA – April 7 – LINX and LX Sports Camps hosted a Basketball Clinic, featuring instruction from Boston Celtic Kelly Olynyk, and a Coerver Soccer Clinic, featuring the world’s #1 ranked soccer coaching method, on March 29th and 30th, 2014, respectively. The one-hour clinics, divided by age groups, offered instruction and training for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 10th grade, and served as an inspiration to young athletes to be the best they can be in their sport, while maintaining an attitude of good sportsmanship and respect. Both clinics were held at LINX’s Dana Hall Campus in Wellesley, MA.

Over 100 children (2nd – 8th grade), from towns as far as on Cape Cod, participated in the basketball clinic for the unique chance to get hands-on training from Kelly Olynyk. With a down to earth, approachable, and fun attitude, Olynyk taught the valuable drills and skills he learned as a youth that helped him become an NBA player. The games played included “Knock Out,” and the top 5 kids from each game played a 5 on 1 challenge with Olynyk, adding immensely to the excitement of the day. With no chance of winning, it was obvious that the kids had a blast losing to the 7 ft. Center as he slam-dunked and swatted their shots out of midair into the stands. “Kelly is not only a competitive athlete who is excellent at his skills, but he is also talented in coaching and working with kids in a camp setting, and he proved that at our clinic," said Josh Schiering, Vice President of LINX. Schiering went on to say, ”Kelly really made the kids feel at ease and confident, enabling them to try new skills”.

In addition to enjoying high fives from Olynyk as they trained, each participant received a tee shirt featuring the Celtics star’s silhouette. Parents and kids alike were beyond excited when they received a $50 athletic scholarship to be used toward 1 week of basketball camp at LINX, featuring Olynyk. The top 5 players in the “Knock Out” game were given an autographed photo of Olynyk, and one lucky participant won a free week of LINX or LX Basketball Camp to further train with Olynyk during the summer at LINX.

LINX’s Coerver Clinic, featuring the world’s #1 ranked soccer coaching method, which is also endorsed and recommended by soccer legend Kristine Lilly, followed on March 30th, to teach kids in Kindergarten through 10th grade ball mastery skills and one on one technique. Expert Coerver staff led the prestigious clinic. The Coerver method is proven to help children become skilled, confident and creative players while having fun. Schiering was enthusiastic about the results stating, “The Coerver team did an outstanding job teaching, and enabled us to track improvement. The clinic was truly a snapshot of what the kids can experience in the summer at LINX and LX Soccer Camps.”
