LINX's New Monthly Ensemble Rehearsals Give Performing Arts Classmates More Time with Friends

WELLESLEY, MA - November 25, 2013 - LINX theater classes came together Friday from 6 to 8:30pm to rehearse while enjoying the enthusiasm, excitement and laughter of their fellow classmates.  The three classes meet separately each week to rehearse and prep their scenes for the fall 2013 performance, The Wizard of Oz.  The classes are Platinum Players, an invite-only or audition-only group of 4th to 8th graders, Center Stage, an invite-only or audition-only program for intermediate to advanced performers in grades 3 through 6, and Spotlight Theater, a mix of students in grades 2 through 5 who enjoy theater and hope to advance into the invite-only programs.  Due to a mix of ages, it is possible for siblings to take part in the same performance.  The unity allows younger performers to aspire toward the higher levels and gives parents the opportunity to witness the accomplishments of the high level performers.  The Ensemble Rehearsals, a membership benefit including a pizza dinner, are held one Friday each month at 141 Linden Street to contribute to the success and fun of the two final performances on the big stage.

"The performers in the separate troupes create strong friendships in their weekly rehearsals and prep their scenes for the events.  It is the most fantastic kind of rehearsal because they have a built-in audience in their fellow players.  Performers watching are encouraged to laugh, gasp and cheer just as a true audience might, allowing those on stage to see what elements of the show are working and which are presently not receiving the desired enthusiasm.  It also gets them used to an audience, relieving the pressure of show day," said Todd Morse, Theater Director at LINX.  Morse has dedicated himself to children learning through theater for nearly fifteen years.  "All performers were so committed to the experience.  It was wonderful to see.  If there was one complaint, it was that the night ended too soon - so we have given them what they most wanted: more time together!" said Morse.
