Two Framingham Restaurants have Closed: Firefly's and Green Chili

Readers: Tell us in the comments if you will miss these Framingham restaurants? And what you would like to see open in those locations.

Firefly's BBQ Restaurant has closed. Tuesday was its last day open.

A message on its phone says "Sorry to announce the Firefly's in Framingham has closed."

The phone message thanks customers for the "9 great years of patronage" and suggests customers visit the original Firefly's - and only Firefly's left open - in Marlborough.

Firefly's has now closed all of its locations except for its original one.

This is the second Framingham restaurant to close in the last month.

Earlier, Green Chili, in Saxonville at the Pinefield Plaza, closed its doors.

Owner and chef Anthony Gomes, who served an eclectic mix breakfast, South and North Indian cuisine and American food. Green Chili opened in January 2010.

A Framingham Patch reader tells us Gomes is still doing catering, but when you call the phone number it says it has been disconnected.

J&M should move into Fireflys. All problems solved. I always see people pull up to JM Sunday mornings, and take a look at the line, and drive away. It's too bad. And waiting 45 minutes does kind of suck, but the townies know how good the food, and service is. I liked fireflys, but didn't overly like it. I guess I wasn't the only 1 who felt that way. Either way, its sad to see people out of work (especially a week before the holiday season)

My family always enjoyed Fireflys. We always went on a Friday night, when they had live music. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was good. I personally loved the pulled pork sandwich. We will go and try the Marlborough location for sure. I hope we get something good in the location!

There are plenty of places to eat breakfast in Framingham. Others have already mentioned J&M and Kugel's, both of which offer the usual -- and the unusual. Without commenting on menu or quality, there's also Friendly's on Route 9 at Temple Street, and there are at least 4 Subway locations in Framingham that serve breakfast sandwiches (Edgell Road at Rt. 9, Saxonville, and inside both Walmart and BJ's Club).

We loved Fireflys! We will miss them most of all. It was our regular family dinner night out for the last few years. I loved the BBQ and the salads. My husband loved the BBQ sauces, and the pickles!

The Marlboro Fireflys is way better than Framingham ever was. I know it's the same ownership and whatnot, but somehow it didn't translate when they opened that location. That said, it was still a passable BBQ place.
