Swellesley: Jimmy’s Café to Close Jan. 31

The 24-year-old restaurant will close its doors at the end of the month.

A longtime Linden Street bistro will close this month.

According to the Swellesley Report last week, at 151 Linden St. will close Jan. 31.

Owner Bedros Kaya told Swellesley he decided to close due to “tough times.”

I am sorry to see them go.. They have been around for years. Everyone reading this should make an effort to stop in and thank the small business owner for offering their services over the year. I will stop in for breakfast this week. Chris Norcross

It's not been the same owners all this time. Tough Times? Go to other establishments in town and they're busy on any given nights... the ones that aren't is due to their lack of quality. People in this area will not go pay for food they don't enjoy. Jimmy did a great job, these last owners, not so much.

Have to agree with MFV. The problem was less 'tough times' than patrons moving on when the service and food no longer measured up to the name and reputation the original owner worked so hard to create.

I agree with the previous two comments. We always had our book club meeting dinners there until a few years ago. Depending upon the server, we were made to feel very welcome and unrushed while other times we were made to feel rushed and an annoyance to the restaurant despite the fact that we always left a very generous tip.

So what happens if you haven't used a Jimmy's gift certificate that was bought a few days before Christmas? They must have known they were closing the business, but they sold the certificate without any warning. That's unethical.
