Two Who Dared: Wellesley Couple Featured in WWII Documentary

The story of a Wellesley couple rescuing a child from Germany in 1939 is beign retold in a documentary to be screened within the week.

The film is "Two Who Dared: The Sharps' War," which is playing at the Boston Public Library's Central Branch in Copley Square,  

It's a free event, and is followed by a panel discussion with Artemis Joukowsky III, the director of the film and Catherine Vakar Chvany, a woman who was rescued by the Sharps as a child. Joukowsky is also a grandson of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, the couple who traveled to Europe as representatives of the American Unitarian Association, who were assigned to provide aid to refugees fleeing the Nazis.

According to the Two Who Dared site, the film premiers in April, and will be released worldwide through a grassroots, community movement. 

This screening is hosted by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Boston Next Generation Society, and is an official selection of the 2013 Boston International Film Festival.
