Schneider’s work combines the eye of a realist painter with an impressionist’s focus on capturing light with expressive strokes of color.  Many of her paintings are painted outdoors and reflect the artist’s intimate reaction to her subject. Time of day, season and atmospheric conditions fill her works with mood and a sense of being in the moment.  This is particularly true for the New England and coastal California scenes.  Schneider’s series of Chaco Canyon depicts geological, archeological and cultural time. This sacred ancestral puebloan cultural site in northwestern New Mexico is set amongst commanding rock formations.  These paintings leads one to contemplate humanity’s footprint against the constant ebb of time
