Wellesley Volunteers today announced that online registration has begun for the first annual Wellesley Day of Service to be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014. Interested volunteers can register online at www.wellesleyvolunteers.org.

Wellesley Day of Service is a day of volunteer activities that will bring together participants of all ages to complete a variety of community projects for the benefit of non-profit organizations and municipal departments throughout the town of Wellesley. Volunteers will work in teams on morning or afternoon projects throughout the town with a luncheon celebration at midday.

All Wellesley residents can participate in the day’s volunteer events, depending on the logistics of the specific project. Any individuals, families, groups and Wellesley-based corporations can volunteer.

The Day of Service Committee has compiled a list of projects for May 4, 2014. Members of the Committee include representatives from the Fund for Wellesley, Wellesley Friendly Aid, the Wellesley Fire Department, the Wellesley Police Department, the Wellesley Free Library, the Wellesley Youth Commission, the Wellesley Board of Selectmen, the Wellesley Council on Aging, the Wellesley Trails Committee, the Wellesley Department of Public Works, and the Wellesley Hills Junior Women’s Club.

The project list can be found online at www.wellesleyvolunteers.org and includes projects both indoors and outdoors throughout the town of Wellesley. The Day of Service has projects ranging from conducting sidewalk surveys for the Wellesley DPW to collecting food for the Wellesley Food Pantry and cleaning up trails with the Wellesley Trails Committee. In addition to the volunteer opportunities from Wellesley Volunteers, the Friends of Fuller Brook Park are also holding a clean-up day on Sunday, May 4th.
