Local Middle Schooler's Op-Ed Interests Gloria Steinem

Local sixth grader Emily Willrich, 11, wrote an op-ed in the Wellesley Townsman focusing on the difference in the quality of the fields that both the girls' and boys softball teams use, according to the Swellesley Report. Willrich's popular op-ed landed her at an event at Simmons College last week, along with Gloria Steinem and other female politicians.

Willrich's op-ed pointed out that the boys' softball field is in much better condition that the girls' field. Steinem reportedly applauded Willrich for standing up for herself and asked for a copy of the letter, according to the Swellesley Report.
