5 Things You Need to Know: Ice Cream and Song, Drop-In Stories and More

Five things you need to know for Needham and Wellesley on July 24, 2013.

1. Even though they expect the day to be partly sunny, there is still a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms, or so the National Weather Service tells us. A 20 to 30 percent chance of that day and night. 85ºF highs during the day, and 57ºF lows in the evening.

2. Drop in for Drop-In Story Time at Needham Public Library. 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Join the Library team for music, movement and stories for about a half-hour. You should stick around, though--they want all of the kids to be accompanied by an adult.

3. Today marks the grand opening of the new Wellesley location for Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins at 2 p.m. Their grand opening event will feature special guests New England Revolution star Chad Barrett, Phantom Gourmet host Dan Andelman, and the Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’ Donuts mascots among other activities.

4. Great Jumpin' Juba! Or, rather, that's the band playing the Wellesley Summer Concert series tonight. Mixing Chicago, Memphis and New Orleans style, the band will be playing tunes from their second album, "Slap Happy." Show starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

5.  The Ewe people of Togo approach music a little differently, and Daniel Joseph, a Senior at Tufts University and Music Major is presenting his take on that culture. The free lecture is "Why Would I Feel Shy?" A Workshop on the Participatory Music at the Weston Public Library, at 7 p.m.
