The Wellesley High School Class of 2015 is “going global” this spring. The theme of this year’s annual junior class auction is “Around the World” and will be held at the school on Saturday March 29 at 7 p.m. The event is one of the highlights of the school year and will offer attendees numerous opportunities to bid on exciting global travel getaways, championship sporting memorabilia and events and student and teacher-donated services while sampling delicacies from nations near and far. Admission is free.
Top lots this year include weeklong vacations at the magical Chateau de Miserai a 17th century 11 bedroom estate set on 350 acres in Normandy, France and luxurious estates in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic and Shark Key/Key West, Florida. Looking for a quick getaway? The class will also be offering a sophisticated city weekend in the heart of Toronto, a secluded stay in a Nantucket cottage and a spectacular four-day Las Vegas getaway at Planet Hollywood.
The event raises funds for class activities during junior and senior year. This year’s class has offered 10% of all auction proceeds to Horizons for Homeless Children, the only organization in Massachusetts focused exclusively on the needs of young homeless children and their families. The organization is recognized as a national leader in the education of homeless children and provides high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and family engagement services to more than 3,000 homeless children each week in Massachusetts.
The format of this year’s event will include live, “super-silent,” silent auctions and raffles. Talented musicians, singers and dancers from of the Class of 2015 will provide entertainment and a few surprises that are sure to delight the crowd.
Other incredible auction offerings include a two-year lease on a 2013 Toyota Prius, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski-signed footballs and a Red Sox lovers package of four premium tickets to any 2014 game, car service to and from Fenway Park and a signed Dustin Pedroia jersey.
As always, a very wide range of student, local business, parent and teacher-donated items will also be available to the highest bidder, including themed gift baskets, spa treatments, exotic foods, jewelry and clothing, golf at premier New England courses and premium high school parking and graduation seating, both traditional crowd favorites.
