Downton Abbey-inspired Fundraiser a Big Success

The Downton Abbey-inspired Garden Party Fundraiser held at Elm Bank Gardens in Wellesley last week was a great success! The event organizers raised more than $20,000 for the Mass Horticultural Society's Garden to Table program, which provides organic produce to families in need.

Guests donned their finest Downton-era attire & joined us for a lovely end of summer celebration featuring antique cars, vintage fashions from Augusta Auction Co, an official cricket match by the Colonial Cavaliers Cricket Club, croquet games led by members of the Boston Croquet Club, garden tours, tea on the green, classical music, delicious food & cocktails, including Pimm's Cups, and a best hat & best costume contest.

The funds will help Mass Hort expand its program, and expand the gardens beyond Elm Bank Reservation. Its new partnership with the Tufts University Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging is one example of how they can serve more families in need. The new garden will be installed in the lobby of the research center next week and will provide organic produce to the Greater Boston Food Bank.
