Bob Filene’s “Magic For Smart People“ at Wellesley Community Center April 16

During the last taping session of Gil Stubbs’ World of Magic, at the Wellesley Community Center, the audience was exposed to magical literacy.  If you like educational themes, later this month on Wednesday April 16 at 4:00PM our next guest is Bob-The-Magic-Guy, also known as Bob Filene.  Bob lives in Cambridge and his show will have you believing in the impossible, while making you smile.  He always has a prop in his pocket and a trick up his sleeve.  No, really.
“I saw a man at the airport performing magic, and I thought, why aren’t I doing this?”  he said, “It‘s a chance to do something that makes people pay attention, he said.  “It’s about doing something that makes people laugh, it mystifies people.”
His Magic was something that caught his eye when he was a kid growing up in New York.  He would find himself wandering into a store with a counter full of magic props and supplies and dreamt of learning how to fool his friends.  He practices his tricks with his wife, a Psychiatrist.  “She is very observant,” he says. “It’s hard to get things past her.”
Bob performs on stage, for adult and childrens' parties, and for charity events. He began his study of magic eight years ago when he discovered Ray Goulet's magic shop in Watertown, MA.  This led to his participation in the local chapter of The International Brotherhood of Magicians where he is now an officer and to his membership in the local assembly of The Society of American Magicians.
