February Means College Arts Programs Are In Bloom

Many of the College's arts programs open semester-long series this month. The Distinguished Writers Series begins tomorrow with a reading by world-renowned travel writer Pico Iyer.

It's February! Which means that several Wellesley College Spring Arts programs, series, and exhibits are blossoming -- I'm curious, has anyone been by to see yet? I'd love to hear what you think about it!

I, personally, love literature and am very excited about the spring Distinguished Writers Series, which kicks off tomorrow, Thursday, February 2, with a reading by renowned travel writer Pico Iyer. Iyer is the author of seven works of non-fiction, including: Video Night in Kathmandu (cited on many lists of the best travel books ever); The Lady and the Monk (finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Award in the Current Interest category); and The Global Soul (subject of websites and theatrical productions around the world).

Iyer will read from his very new book The Man Within My Head, which just came out last month. If you want to learn more about him, you can read a short conversation between him and the Boston Globe’s Amy Sutherland here... then come to campus tomorrow to participate in a conversation. Hope to see you there!

By the way, I wrote about our . The Calendar is a publication that outlines all of the semester's arts events (dance, theater, music, even a few special dinners) if you haven't gotten your copy yet, you can view it online or, better yet, stop by campus and pick one up.
