Bells for Mandela

The Wellesley College Guild of Carrilloneurs played a tribute to Nelson Mandela yesterday, Thursday, December 12. Just after 4 PM, three songs rang out from the 150-year old bell tower in honor of Mandela: “There is a Balm in Gilead,” an African American spiritual; The National Anthem of South Africa; and “Ode To Joy,” by Ludwig van Beethoven. Wellesley College student, Claire Shiplett, captured these photos of the student musicians during the tribute.
