Wellesley Celebrates Thanksgiving

1. Weather

Today will be mostly sunny and much colder with highs in the lower 30s. West winds will be 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. They will decrease to 35 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be partly cloudy and cold with lows around 19. West winds will be 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 25 mph in the evening.

2. What’s open, closed

Due to Massachusetts "Blue Laws,” many places today will remain closed. But, if you're looking for a break from the family madness of the holiday, there are a few places to which you may be able to escape. Here's a list of what's open and closed in Wellesley on Thanksgiving

3. Thanksgiving football game

Needham and Wellesley will face off at Wellesley High School’s Hunnewell Field 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28 for the annual varsity football showdown. For more information click here.


4. Turkey 5 road race

The Turkey 5 road race starts 8 a.m. today from the 200 block area of Linden Street near the Roche Bros entrance. The road race has both a 5 mile and 5 kilometer course, with two start times, one at 8 a.m. and the second at 8:15 a.m. The courses will make their way through Wellesley Square on Central Street and on Washington Street near Grove. Part of the race also traverses the Wellesley College campus and Route 135. The race ends where it started on Linden Street. For race and traffic details click here.
