Today In Wellesley: Sun-Shining Hair, Nixon V Kennedy and More

Five things you need to know for Needham and Wellesley on August 9, 2013.

1. Looks, once again, like rain. The National Weather Service reports an 80 percent chance of heavy rain all day, 50 percent overnight. May even be some thunderstorms after noon. Otherwise, cloudy, and a high of 80ºF, a low of 68ºF.

2. BLO is having a concert in the courtyard at BPL. That's the Boston Lyric Orchestra and the Boston Public Library, in Copley Square, for those playing at home. Their fare includes many operatic favorites, such as areas from The Magic Flute and Verdi’s Rigoletto and more. 12:30 p.m. today, head over to check them out.

3. The debates between Nixon and Kennedy are considered something of a legendary battle. Want to know more about the epic debates? Prof. Gary Hylander is coming to Waterstone at Wellesley to talk about them at 2:30 p.m. Call 781-235-1614 to RSVP.

4. Ed Morgan is bringing his guitar to the library--and the librarians will let you sing along. They're aiming it at kids between 3 and 5, and they want parents to stick around. Sing-along with Ed Morgan is coming to Needham Public Library at 3 p.m., arrive on time.

5. Boston Children's Theatre is bringing a Wellesley kid to the stage, in "Hair"--the musical that brought us "Aquarius" and "Let the sun shine in." She and the rest of her cast go on stage Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m. at The Governor’s Academy (1 Elm Street in Byfield).
