Today in Wellesley: Avenging Heroes, Playing Hits and More!

Five things you need to know for August 15, 2013 in Needham and Wellesley.


1. If you're out and about early morning, before 8 a.m., there may be some patches of fog. Otherwise, the National Weather Service tells us you can expect a clear day with a high of 78ºF. By nightfall, a clear evening with a low of 53ºF. 

2. "What are the Boards for," You ask? Well, they're actually for a whole host of things: Have an accomplishment you want to share with the town? See something curious around town? Want to buy, sell or trade something? Post it on the Boards

3.  The One Fund is starting a revolution with ice cream. Two players from the New England Revolution are taking over Ben and Jerry's on Newbury Street in Boston. New England Revolution stars Saer Sene and Jerry Bengtson take over ‘Sene & Jerry’s’ to serve up a charity scoop on Thursday at 4 p.m.

4. Needham's outdoor concert series continues tonight, and they are bringing The Reminisants to the Memorial Park gazebo. Starting at 7 p.m., you can expect to find oldies and other tunes from a swath of musical history played live, and for free.

5. Five heroes are coming together to save the world, or failing that, to avenge it, at Morses Pond tonight. The Wellesley Rec. is screening "The Avengers" tongiht at 8 p.m. Come catch the movie that brings some of Earth's biggest heroes together.
