Ann Blair’s most recent work, Too Much to Know: Managing Scholarly Information Before the Modern Age, argues that our contemporary sensation of “information overload” was already prevalent in the Renaissance. Her study explores the methods readers used to organize and retrieve the information that marked a period of sudden technological transformation.
